Kinematic through Cosine Law

I was revisiting some old concepts and stumbled onto the Law of Cosines. The equation is mostly used for creating IK (Invers Kinematics).   The Law of Cosines states that with one angle and the sides that make it, you can find the third side.

	c^2=a^2+b^2-2(a)(b)Cosine(C)

The goal is to find the elusive  third sides angle  (angB) and make any number of connected points follow. A while back I had written an experiment loosely based on the Keith Peters Making things move formula.  I decided to look deeper in the physics and mathematics of it all and created this revision scripted in AS3. In the coming weeks I will be looking into IK and playing around to see where crazy mathematics can lead.

Boy - I wish you had published this two months ago... :)

Where do you look to find such formulas? I never did advanced math in school so while I guessed there was something like this, I could not find the proper formula. I solved it in a different way, using angles and limitations per limb, but this formula would have been like Gold to me...
